Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) have reunited in EastEnders, but things are difficult between them already.
Shortly after Ruby returned, Martin learnt their son Roman was unwell and in hospital.
As a result of Martin spending time with her and Roman, as well as the organ donation, Ruby felt their spark reigniting.
In upcoming episodes, Martin and Ruby continue to show off their relationship. While they appear a vision of happiness, it’s clear Ruby is jealous of Martin’s close relationship with Stacey (Lacey Turner).
Later, Martin makes a plan with the council after learning about Eve (Heather Peace) and Stacey’s new business idea. However, when Ruby reveals that Roman is being discharged from hospital, a distracted and overwhelmed Martin realises he’s juggling far too much.
In the week, a stressed Martin has his meeting with Councillor Barker brought forward, so Ruby offers to step in and help.
Still plagued by jealousy, Ruby will later develop a risky plan with the councillor in an attempt to impress Martin, but will it really work?
Or just highlight her insecurities
‘When James and I first started the Ruby and Martin relationship, we had all of two days on set and then we went into lockdown. So when we came back to continue the storyline, everything was behind a screen and we weren’t allowed to touch.
‘We felt as actors we didn’t get the shot we wanted to give them the relationship and chemistry on screen. I’m hoping for that reason we get to see if they can rekindle something. I think Ruby loves the idea of him as a family man.’
