EMMERDALE has revealed the horrifying truth about Steph Miligan’s parentage in an incest bombshell today.
The businesswoman’s mother Ruby – who is played by actress Beth Cordingly in the ITV soap –
has been struggling since her dad Anthony arrived in the village.
Viewers know Anthony abused Ruby as a teenager and could have been her eldest daughter Steph’s father.
Having relived her trauma, Ruby decided to get a secret DNA test to find out once and for all – and despite changing her mind at the last minute – the results came out anyway.
After finding the results, Caleb thundered: “When were you going to tell me? What? Are you trying to figure a way out of it and tell me it’s not what I think it is.”
“It really isn’t,” said Ruby.
“DNA test results don’t lie,” Caleb replied.
He added: “But you do, don’t you? You’ve been lying to me for years – Steph’s not mine. Zero per cent probability of paternity.
A devastated Ruby said: “I’m so sorry, I didn’t know, not for sure. Nothing changes.”
“Everything changes,” Caleb raged. “You’ve been hiding this all this time. Why now? What have I done to you to make you do a test?”
“Because Steph’s here,” Ruby told him.
“Every time I see her I’ve been going out of my mind hating myself. I thought it would be easier if I knew.
“But I prayed it would be you. This is worse, so much worse knowing. I didn’t want you to know, I came back here to destroy the letter.
“I have loved you since the moment we met. You are everything to me and that has never changed. I have never not loved you, there’s only ever been you.”
Devastated, Caleb told Ruby he should’ve left her with her mum and dad – not realising the hell she’d gone through with them.
