EastEnders has aired Nish Panesar’s final scenes as he made one final attempt to ruin his ex Suki’s life, on her wedding day to Eve Unwin.

The terminally-ill Nish escaped from prison and faked his death to avoid the police as he set up his ultimate revenge scheme, and narrowly missed out on an opportunity to stab Eve in the previous episode.

In tonight’s (January 1) instalment, tensions ran high ahead of the ceremony, with Nugget’s behaviour raising suspicion from Denise Fox, especially when she referred to Nish being dead.

Nugget went to the flat Nish was staying at and asked him why he was wearing a suit, but the villain replied he was just wearing it in preparation to “die with some dignity”. Before he could question Nish further, Denise appeared in the doorway.

Denise threatened to call the police and take Nugget with her, but Nish stopped her in her tracks by mentioning the events of Christmas Day 2023. She tried to call his bluff, stating that no-one would believe him, but Nugget was shaken.

Nish moved his hand towards a bottle of champagne while Denise’s back was turned, and the scene ended there. The next time Nish was seen, he was in a cab on the way to the wedding venue, where he was stopped by Ravi and Vinny.

As Suki and Eve shared emotional vows, praising each other’s strength, Ravi and Vinny tied Nish to a chair in a nearby barn and asked them where Denise was. At first he said she was “fine”, but after they told him they wouldn’t let him go to the wedding and were sending him back to jail, he changed his story to rile Ravi up.

Ravi went to try and call Jack Branning to help find Denise, leaving Vinny alone to watch Nish. Soon enough, Jack found Denise unconscious on the floor, bleeding from the head.

Jack confirmed she was still breathing and would get her to the hospital, and told Ravi to keep an eye on Nish.

Things took a turn for the worse when Suki and Eve shared a bubbly toast in their honeymoon suite, and Eve started to choke and pass out. Nish appeared, having knocked Vinny unconscious, and revealed that he poisoned Eve and had locked all the doors.

“She’s gone now, and there’s nothing you can do,” he said, before pouring two more poisoned drinks: one for her, and one for him.

Suki ran to the balcony, where Nish slapped her in front of the guests. Ravi turned up to confront his evil father, who tried to goad him into violence once again.

This time, he succeeded, as Ravi pushed Nish off the balcony. Unfortunately, Nish expected that, and had tied Suki’s outfit around his hand, dragging her down with him.

With a huge pool of blood pouring from his head, Nish seems certainly dead. But Suki’s fate is less clear, as it looked like she landed on his chest rather than the ground. And will Eve also manage to pull through?
