Former Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell has shared a few insights into her new project, historical abuse survivor drama Storm.
A proof-of-concept film, Storm stars Campbell as former soap star Lacey, who finds the strength to break the cycle of abuse at the hands of a powerful man. As he gets accused by a second woman, Lacey realises she has the chance to speak up and bring about a reckoning.
“So excited to be apart of this important project with @rocking_horse_media and can’t wait to start,” the Amelia Spencer star wrote on Instagram.
“I feel so privileged to have been approached to play the lead role of Lacey in Storm,” she added in a further post on social media. “This original drama will raise awareness of something so serious and harrowing for the survivors who have experienced it, and that is historical abuse.”

Campbell and Rocking Horse Media, which produces the film, have been working closely with consultants and survivors to do justice to such a complex story.
“I would like to say a massive thank you again to all the survivors – those I have spoken to but also those that I haven’t,” Campbell wrote. “You are all bravely helping us make this story as powerful and authentic as it can be and I only hope that I can do you all the justice you deserve in this important role. This is for all of you.”
More details about Storm will be shared in due course, but brief teasers have been shared in an explainer video by Campbell here.
Campbell bowed out from the role of Amelia on Emmerdale earlier this month. The character decided to move in with her biological father Daz as she was in need of a fresh start after her involvement in Tom King’s dark storyline.
Speaking on her exit, Campbell said she was feeling “mixed emotions”.
“Amelia is a character that I’ve always played,” she told . “This is my first ever job from being 7 years old, so it felt really sad, but then it was also nice to close the door and be at peace.”
