Emmerdale‘s Cain Dingle and Ruby Fox-Miligan could be in big trouble next week as evil Anthony discovers their secret.

The pair’s pact of silence is broken after Anthony gets suspicious and realises that they’re hiding something.

Cain made a big mistake last month as he slept with Ruby on the day that his wife Moira was undergoing an operation to remove her brain tumour.

The village bad boy immediately regretted his behaviour, which was influenced by his ongoing stress and concern over Moira’s health.

Ruby was also battling hidden turmoil as she struggled to cope with her father Anthony’s presence in the village. The ITV soap has since revealed that Anthony sexually abused Ruby when she was a child.

Next week, Ruby is concerned to spot Cain being rude to Anthony. She encourages Anthony to ignore Cain, but privately warns Cain that it’s best not to make an enemy of Anthony if they want to keep their secret.

Anthony watches the furtive conversation unfold and quickly realises that Ruby and Cain have a secret.

Wanting answers, Anthony asks Ruby about the nature of her relationship with Cain. She initially deflects his questions, but eventually reaches breaking point and tells her manipulative father everything.

Cain is left fearful when Ruby later tips him off that Anthony knows the truth.

His concern may well be justified, as New Year’s Eve sees Anthony demand to take centre stage by making a speech at The Woolpack. Ruby and Cain secretly panic, wondering what he wants to say.

Meanwhile, Chas Dingle spots Ruby’s anxious behaviour as she seems to be drinking heavily and isn’t her usual self. Ruby responds by bravely breaking her silence.
