Ring In The New
Bryan: Can you tease what’s coming up for the rest of 2024 for Alex?
Robert: He’s trying to settle himself down. He got put in a little precarious situation with Joy. His heart’s always been one place with somebody that he’s always cared for. I think we are going to see [Alex] potentially in his real pairing. He will also the family business, [which] is always in turmoil, and the succession story with Xander. It has been really great.
Bryan: Have you enjoyed butting heads with Carson Boatman (Johnny)?
Robert: I love it. I love Carson man. Any chance we get to beat him up on camera, I take advantage of it. Carson is a great guy and one of my good friends. He is also a good sport because there were a couple of times where I gave him a couple of good ones across the face. Nothing too crazy! Just enough to wake him up when we are on set.
Bryan: What would you like to see Alex get into in 2025?
Robert: I would like to see him take the next step in life in general. Originally I was going to say to help support the family business. I just want to see that unfold properly. I think that is something he would be really great heading Titan and the whole business side of things. I think he might be at the stage where marriage, children, or a little bit of his at home life can be developed. He has kind of had a one-track mind for so long. I think that next step is what he is ready for in 2025.
Bryan: It has been a while since Ben has popped up in Salem. Has the character been put to bed at this point?
Robert: You never know in Salem. That is what I will say. I love playing Alex, and I love how the character has developed since day one. From the very first day on set, working with Alex’s immediate family—Wally Kurth (Justin), Judi Evans (Bonnie) and Zach Tinker (Sonny). From that moment on, it really changed my mind about what I was getting into starting this new role. It has just been amazing. As far as I know, Ben is staying put until further notice. I love Ben, and he made such a big splash. I would not say no to reprising the role, but I am grateful to have different shoes to fill now. I really enjoy playing Alex.
