Yes, it’s true: Cameron is returning just in time for the holidays! And after the tragic exits we’ve been getting lately, we could use a joyful return or two. William Lipton is
back on General Hospital for Christmas, starting December 18th, for the first time since February of this year. The last time he was around, circumstances weren’t exactly
what we’d call “happy” seeing as how Cameron attended Spencer’s funeral. This time around, though, it sounds like Cam’s in a much lighter place.
The actor told TV Insider that, “At the center of all Cameron storylines, past, present and future, it’s always his extreme loyalty and love for his family. He will be exploring the town a little bit, maybe run into a few people that he has known throughout his time in Port Charles, but at the end of the day, it’s just him celebrating the love that he has for his family and the love that he feels from his family.”
Of course, while the visit is clearly focused on his family, one of those people who we imagine he might run into while exploring town is Josslyn. The actor noted that in addition to getting to see his TV mom, Rebecca Herbst (Liz), he also got to reconnect a bit with one of his oldest General Hospital friends, Eden McCoy.
And the timing couldn’t be better, as Joss is mourning and processing Dex’s death. Actually, we suppose the timing couldn’t be worse. Even more awkward is the fact that she dumped Cam to be with Dex. Still, he is a thoughtful, loving familiar face, and he could be just what Joss needs right now as she mourns Dex and looks for answers as to what happened and who killed him.
Then again, as Josslyn pointed out on Monday’s episode, first she lost Oscar, now Dex, so if nothing else, for Cameron’s own safety, he should probably keep this platonic! Sadly, though, don’t expect Cam to be around for a long visit. Lipton told TV Insider, “I’ve really enjoyed my experience there and the fact that I got to continue it, even for just a little appearance, warms my heart so much.”
And hey, we’ll take it — especially for the holidays!
