Ruby Allen and Martin Fowler received an update regarding the health of their son, Roman, on EastEnders.
Ruby returned to Walford last month following a spell in prison, informing ex-husband Martin that she privately gave birth to Roman

Martin had secretly plotted to gain full custody of Roman, who is in hospital with autoimmune hepatitis, but first he needed Ruby to add his
name onto the birth certificate.
Ruby subsequently discovered his intentions, leading the pair’s relationship to grow even frostier, with Thursday’s (December 12) episode beginning as Martin was turned away at the hospital as he went to visit Roman.
Unbeknownst to him, Ruby had told the nurse to send him away as she concealed her presence, though she would soon need his help as the nurse revealed that there had been a change in Roman’s condition.
Ruby headed to the café as she overheard Martin refer to her as a “cow”, with the pair taking the argument into the street before Ruby stormed off as she remarked that she and Roman “didn’t need” Martin.
Martin later arrived at the hospital to apologise to Ruby for his prior antics, sharing that he had gone “over the top” in attempting to have his name on the birth certificate, though he pleaded that Roman needed both of his parents to support him.

After Martin laid out a potential roadmap for their future together, Ruby informed him that the latest round of steroids hadn’t worked on Roman, who would now need a transplant to improve his health.
Though Martin offered to donate his liver, a doctor informed the pair that they had found a viable donor and that the surgery would take place the following day – will the former couple be able to leave their personal issues aside for Roman’s benefit?
