Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly addresses show exit claims

Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly has spoken out over reports that she is leaving the soap, posting a video on Instagram in which she says she is “just addressing some fake news”.

Cordingly, who joined Emmerdale as Ruby Fox-Miligan at the beginning of the year, shared an update with her followers in which she denied claims that she has been “mistreated” by a producer on the show.

“I just wanted to clear something up, because loads of people keep contacting me and saying, ‘Oh I hear that you’re leaving the show’,” she said. “There’s some sort of fake news article going round saying all sorts of stuff.

“For the record, if I’m allowed to say this, I’m not leaving the show at the moment – as far as I know. I’m having a really lovely time.”

Adding that she ‘adores’ working on the soap, she confirmed that she “definitely” doesn’t think she has been “mistreated by any producers”.

“I’m being treated very well and I’m having a lovely time,” she concluded.

The actor’s followers shared their relief that Cordingly – and Ruby – will be sticking around, with one writing, “You’re never allowed to leave… Best Emmerdale casting in years, absolutely love Ruby!”

Another wrote, “You are great and Ruby is such an interesting character. So glad you are staying”, while a third fan commented, “Love Ruby… You are an amazing actress with such a heartbreaking storyline”.

Ruby is currently involved in a dark storyline featuring her estranged father Anthony, who recently made an unexpected arrival in the village alongside Ruby’s daughter, Steph.

Ever since Anthony arrived, Ruby has been determined to keep her distance from him, and it was recently revealed that this is because Ruby was sexually abused by Anthony when she was a child.

The soap aired disturbing flashback scenes in which Ruby celebrated her 16th birthday with a party, before Anthony entered her room while the pair were alone in the house.

Ruby will be pushed to the limit on Christmas Day, as Anthony makes himself at home with the family and announces that he plans to stay in the village for the foreseeable future.
