Coronation Street‘s Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir’s future has been revealed after a dating setback.

The former colleagues began exploring their romantic chemistry earlier this year, but their time together was cut short when Alya moved to Dublin for a work placement.

Alya has recently returned to Weatherfield after six months away, and has started shadowing a criminal solicitor.

Once Adam saw Alya back on the street, he admitted how much he missed her and suggested that they meet for a catch up. They then shared a passionate kiss.

Tonight’s (December 2) episode saw Adam and Alya meet up for lunch at the Bistro, where Adam confessed his feelings.

“I like your company, and I might also fancy the pants off you,” he shared, before Alya confirmed that she thought he was “all right as well”.

“No, seriously, I like you a lot. I would like this to continue at whatever pace you want,” Adam continued, with Alya replying: “Me too.”

As Adam headed off to the toilet, his phone beeped with a notification from a dating app, revealing that he had a new “match”.

Alya quickly left the restaurant, with a confused Adam asking why she was suddenly acting “quiet”. She didn’t tell him the truth, instead saying that she was busy with work and had other “priorities” to sort out.

Once Adam had walked away, Yasmeen asked her granddaughter how her lunch went, and was shocked to hear about the dating notification, as she thought Adam “really liked” Alya.

“We had a great time, he wanted to see me again tonight. Except, he’s on a dating app, matching with other people,” Alya explained.

“I should of just trusted my instincts about him, he’s a player and I need to steer clear.”

Adam and Alya then bumped into each other at the corner shop, where Alya revealed that she was frustrated that he had “reverted to type” as a “clichéd bachelor”.

An amused Adam then explained that he hadn’t used the dating app in months, before quickly deleting it. “Hardly the behaviour of a depraved bachelor,” he said. “You’re very quick to assume the worst of me.”

Later, Alya called at Speed Daal and overhead Adam telling Yasmeen that he thought they would be “perfect” together, before calling her “beautiful” and “smart”.

Alya then agreed to go on a date with Adam the following night. Will they be able to make things work?
