Coronation Street airs a return for Joel Deering’s parents Gus and Anthea next month.
The couple reappear on the cobbles and threaten to start interfering in the life of their baby grandson Frankie, much to the
concern of Max Turner.
Max is currently playing a close role in the upbringing of Lauren Bolton’s young son.
Lauren is currently raising Frankie in the prison’s mother and baby unit, as she’s still being held on remand for Joel’s murder. She has asked her boyfriend Max and his family to help her take care of Frankie too.
In scenes airing in early December, Gus and Anthea visit the area to invite Dee-Dee Bailey to attend a memorial service in honour of Joel’s birthday.
Dee-Dee isn’t interested and claims to be busy, but the conversation is interrupted when Max passes by while pushing Frankie in his pram.
Max makes the mistake of mentioning that Frankie is Lauren and Joel’s baby son. Dee-Dee then reveals who Gus and Anthea are, leaving Max mortified for speaking too freely in front of them.
Later in the week, Gus and Anthea meet their solicitor Cliff to discuss their rights where Frankie is concerned.
Max invites the pair back to the Platt house to spend some time with their grandson and leaves them alone while he pops upstairs.
When Max returns, he’s horrified to find Gus and Anthea gone. What are they up to?
Later that day, Lauren receives a worrying update at the prison as she’s told that bruises have been found on Frankie’s body.
Lauren learns that Frankie has been admitted to hospital, where doctors are already running tests. What has happened to him?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, December 11 and Friday, December 13 on ITV1 and ITVX.
