After EJ gets an earful from Paulina over the phone about freeing Cat, Kristen slinks into the DiMera living room, wondering why EJ let “that imposter” go. He assures her he’s got it under control and needles her about botching the Titan takeover. Kristen dismisses it as Philip returning and deciding it wasn’t worth the trouble. EJ rolls his eyes when he learns that she gave Sarah the serum anyway… for love.

Brady stops by the Bistro to shoot the breeze with Ava. After an awkward conversation about Tate and Sophia’s sex life, Brady tells her Kristen agreed to give Sarah the serum to help her walk again. Ava assumes there are strings attached. Brady admits Kristen wanted Titan in exchange, but he talked her out of it. Ava chuckles over Kristen doing the right thing because she’s still crazy about him — and him giving her hope they might get back together. Brady calls it manipulative but effective. Ava wonders if it’s not so much manipulation but a chance it will happen.

Sophia calls Tate out in bed for saying Holly’s name. Confused, he insists he didn’t. However, if he did, it’s because he feels terrible about their break up. But Holly has nothing to do with how he feels about Sophia. He apologizes and tries to get back on track. Fuming, Sophia wants him to admit he wished he had yes to getting back together with Holly.

Maggie finds Holly in the Kiriakis mansion and tells her Kristen gave Sarah the serum. Holly’s thrilled, but Maggie detects she’s a bit down as well. Holly admits her and Tate’s breakup has been hard. Especially now that Sophia is in the picture.

At the hospital, Xander and Sarah give Kayla Dr. Rolf’s serum. As Kayla expresses her reservations, Sarah presents Rolf’s instructions. As they go over them, they deduce the serum has to be injected directly into Sarah’s spine. Kayla warns it carries significant risks. Xander assures Sarah he will love her regardless of what she decides. Sarah knows, but their daughter will be taking her first steps any day. She’s willing to take the chance if it means she’ll get to stand there holding Victoria’s hand when she does.

Sophia gets dressed in Tate’s room as he fails to convince her he’s over Holly. He’s been trying to do the right thing, but he doesn’t know what that is. Sophia, point blank, asks who he wants to be with. “Me or Holly?” When Tate remains silent, Sophia dumps him. Tate is so sorry. He really likes her. That’s not enough for her. “I don’t sleep with people I like.” She tells him to go be with Holly, but when she breaks his heart, “Don’t you dare come crying to me.”

At the Bistro, Brady tells Ava that Rachel is the only reason he doesn’t rule out reuniting with Kristen. His head tells him to run and not look back, but Rachel hates it when they fight. Ava thinks Brady is naïve if he doesn’t think Kristen heard what she wanted to about them reuniting.

In the DiMera mansion, EJ chastises Kristen for not securing Brady’s promise to reunite. She gave Sarah the cure and ended up with nothing. He’d be shocked if Brady ever showed his face there again. Kristen gloats to her brother as Brady strolls in. When EJ steps out, Brady gives Kristen a bracelet. Kristen’s wide smile falters when she realizes it’s not for her. It’s Rachel’s friendship bracelet, which she left in his car. Before he leaves, Brady makes clear that nothing has changed between them, and he can’t make any promises. EJ returns to taunt Kristen.

In tears, Sophia comes to the now-closed Bistro. She tells Ava what happened and how used and humiliated she feels. Ava holds the teen as she cries.

After Maggie’s called to the hospital, Tate comes to see Holly at the Kiriakis mansion. He confesses the mistakes he’s made, including staying with Sophia when he really wanted to be with Holly. “All I ever wanted was you.” He takes her face in his hands and kisses her.

After Maggie arrives, she and Xander stand bedside as Kayla brings the serum to Sarah’s hospital room. Xander remarks what a big needle it is, but assures Sarah he won’t pass out. Kayla believes their calculations match Rolf’s, but if Sarah’s having second thoughts they can wait. Sarah looks at her husband and mother and says, “Let’s do this. Now.”
