General Hospital Spoilers reveal that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) passed away last week after donating part of her liver to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins).
Of course, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) had to see for himself that Sam was gone and say goodbye to the love of his life. Was this more about Steve saying
goodbye to his best pairing than Jason’s goodbye to Sam?
Jason Morgan’s Goodbye To Sam McCall Was Heart-Wrenching
General Hospital Spoilers indicate that Jason could not even look at Sam when he first went to her room because he would have to face the truth.
Unfortunately, after walking inside, Jason could no longer be in denial about Sam’s fate. Sam, who had always survived every challenge, every illness, every villain sent her way was gone.
Jason expected more for Sam. Jason talked about how he expected Sam to outlive him and to be there to see their grandchildren. Sam was supposed to live a long and happy life.
To see Jason in tears in these scenes have been very moving for most fans who have watched. Some people stating how Stone Cold just wasn’t Stone Cold anymore.
GH Spoilers: Steve Burton And Kelly Monaco Worked Hard With This Pairing
Steve and Kelly were friends when Sam and Jason were paired on the show. At the time, the actors were given some leeway as to how their characters were formed.
They wanted this pairing to seem natural so Steve and Kelly took things slow and developed a lasting relationship between Sam and Jason, one meant to last a lifetime.
With all of the work they put into this match, Sam and Jason never seemed forced. The actors, just like their fanbase always expected them to be endgame.
However, that obviously was not to be as the years went on. After Steve’s departure in 2012, things were never allowed to be the same and the loss of Jasam hurt.
Bringing Sam back would be slightly more difficult to write. This one event marks the end of a era with Sam and Jason as well as Steve and Kelly.
Steve has made no secret over the years how much he loved this pairing. Steve was allowed to pace the relationship from the start. In all honesty, the goodbye scene between these two had Jason/Steve visibly crying over the loss.
Fans can only speculate that Steve was also mourning the pairing they had worked so hard to make seen real and the loss of what it could have been.
