Fans hoping that Nicholas Alexander Chavez might come back to General Hospital as Spencer have probably mostly given
up on that idea by this point, given his recent success with Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story and Grotesquerie.
But now the rising young star has yet another exciting new project to keep him busy — the new sequel to I Know What You
Did Last Summer!
Deadline reports that Chavez has been cast in the movie alongside Lola Tung, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette. Freddie Prinze Jr. is set to reprise his role of Ray Bronson from the first two films in the series and Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to return as well.Adapted from the book by Lois Duncan, I Know What You Did Last Summer was a big hit in 1997, so the 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was a no-brainer. In 2006, a third film was released direct-to-video titled I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, but it wasn’t a direct sequel, instead adapting the basic premise with new characters.
This new sequel is as yet still untitled, but it will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson from a script by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson based on a draft by Leah McKendrick. Sony Pictures is planning a theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
The original I Know What You Did Last Summer centered around four teens who cover up an accident by disposing of the body and a year later find themselves being stalked by their victim. The sequel followed the two surviving friends as the killer continued to stalk them. This new sequel will ignore the third film and act as a direct follow-up to the second movie.
Will Chavez’s character meet a gory death at the hands of the killer? Or might there be a twist and he’s the killer? We’ll just have to wait and see!
