EastEnders has confirmed that Phil Mitchell will struggle in upcoming scenes as he becomes increasingly more isolated.
Phil began to burn bridges with his friends and family earlier this summer, causing multiple arguments and eventually leading Denise to move out and tell
him\ that he was going to end up a very lonely man.
In scenes set to air on the BBC soap next week, Teddy tells Phil that he wants to buy Peggy’s to honour his family. However, Phil is annoyed by his low offer and dismisses him.
Both Sharon and Kat try to talk separately to Phil, who is becoming increasingly isolated and lonely. But Phil hides his emotions and refuses to open up to either of them.
Later on, Sharon tries to get Phil to see sense about selling Peggy’s, wondering if he really wants to get rid of the place. The club sale continues to have a negative impact on Phil’s mood, but he shuts down Sharon’s attempts to talk to him about it.
Later in the week, Johnny asks Phil if he would be open to giving him some freelance work in Richie’s absence. Will Phil agree?
This new storyline coincides with the arrival of Teddy’s ex-wife Nicola, played by Laura Doddington. After Nicola overhears Teddy arranging to meet Phil to sign the paperwork for the sale of the club, she corners Phil for a chat as she comes up with a new scheme.
Doddington recently teased details about her character, describing her as “complex”.
“Nicola is a complex woman who comes in like the Tasmanian Devil! She’s strong and completely unapologetic about who she is,” she said, with executive producer Chris Clenshaw describing the character as “feisty”.
