He had stabbed the mother to death outside the Rovers Return, with David left holding her in his arms as she took her last breath.
The evil character – who is played by Callum Harrison and is David’s wife Shona’s son – was locked up for his crime.
However, upcoming Coronation Street scenes will see David receive a visiting order from the killer.
Turning to his old brother Nick for guidance on what to do, he advises David to come clean to Shona.

However, David ignores Nick and forms a plan before visiting Clayton in prison.
As the week continues David finds Shona in a terrible state, when she receives news that Clayton is in hospital.
It remains to be seen what’s happened to Clayton and just how bad his injuries are.
The Sun were first to reveal that Callum would be reprising his role as the evil character.
A source told us: “Callum has already filmed his scenes – they managed to keep everything under wraps because Clayton is still in prison.
