Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve “uncovered” the identity of Betsy Swain’s biological father – and he’s already

part of life on the cobbles.

The character, portrayed by Sydney Martin, made her debut earlier this year as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky

Myers). Viewers learned that Lisa’s wife and Betsy’s other mum, Becky, tragically lost her life in the line of duty, leaving the bond between Betsy and Lisa strained and complicated.

Since her arrival, Betsy has stirred up plenty of trouble. She recently got entangled with dodgy solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill), even resorting to blackmailing him. However, Joel turned the tables, leaving her fearful after he threatened her.

Fans will remember that Joel had a dark past involving the grooming and abuse of young girls, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), who went missing but eventually returned, leading to Joel’s downfall.

With Joel now murdered, the show has set off a thrilling “Whodunnit” storyline. Multiple characters have fallen under suspicion, including his former fiancée Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), DS Lisa Swain, and more recently, corrupt cop Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who was seen tampering with evidence in the case.

Fans are now speculating that Kit might be at the heart of an even bigger twist: he could be Betsy’s real dad. On a popular Corrie fan page, one viewer commented, “Could Kit actually be Betsy’s father? Maybe that’s why he’s so hostile toward Swain.”

Another fan replied, “Definitely a possibility,” while a third pondered, “If Betsy’s mother used a sperm donor, it’s possible Kit was the donor. Soap storylines always have surprises!”

This is Sydney Martin’s first TV role, and she couldn’t be happier to play Betsy. After auditioning for a few smaller roles in Corrie, she was thrilled to secure such a prominent part. she shared her excitement: “Breaking into this industry isn’t easy, and I’ve faced a lot of rejection. So just getting a callback and meeting Vicky [Myers] felt like a win. It’s all about building connections, which is what makes this career so fulfilling.”
