Days of Our Lives (DOOL) fans continue to be saddened by the news of Drake Hogestyn’s passing. The soap opera icon
passed away this past weekend at 70 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Now fans are learning about when his final
airdate on the soap as John Black took place.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Remembering Drake Hogestyn
DOOL spoilers note that there has been an incredible outpouring of tributes for Hogestyn on social media from fans, co-stars, and fellow actors/actresses in the soap opera world. Both Drake and his character were legends in daytime drama and will be greatly missed.
According to Jason 47’s Daytime Website Facebook page, Hogestyn’s final DOOL episode aired on September 9.
Jason 47 notes in a Facebook post that the show confirmed that Drake’s final appearance as John Black had already aired on that date and his last scenes were with his onscreen son, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf), and onscreen grandson, Tate Black (Leo Howard).
This is very interesting news considering DOOL films several months ahead of schedule, which likely means that Hogestyn fought quite the silent battle when it came to his condition.
DOOL Spoilers – The John Black Legacy
Drake Hogestyn was undeniably one of the greatest soap opera actors of his generation, and the John Black character did it all during his time in Salem.
Hogestyn entered the role 1986 and also took part in DOOL-related Peacock specials, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem and Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.
