Who’d a thunk it?! Young & Restless’ latest twist has put two former foes into a position where, like it or not, they’re on the same side of an epic brewing battle… and no, we don’t mean Lily and Audra, who recently compared notes on being
screwed over by Victor Newman.
Lily and Audra begrudgingly admitting that they’re up the same creek, and giving each other some snippily-delivered advice, was entertaining. But in this story we’re talking about Young & Restless making the seemingly impossible somehow possible.
Our “two former foes” have butted heads more than once over more than one issue, and their showdowns have included a very public clash that Young & Restless fans won’t soon forget. We’re talking about none other than rowing redheads, Phyllis and Sally.
As Christine and Sharon will tell you, Phyllis Summers can hold a grudge longer than Victor Newman’s rivalry with Jack Abbott. Once you get on her bad side, the best you can hope for is Red merely staring daggers at you in public. How then, will Sally get back in the good books? It clearly won’t be easy.
Phyllis did a lot of eye-rolling, exasperated sighing, and grimacing when she witnessed Billy and Sally’s interaction on Crimson Lights’ patio recently. Particularly since he had just told her he didn’t have time to talk. But Billy had all the time in the world for Adam’s ex, who he had shared a drunken kiss with the night before. Sally told him there was no need to apologize, and refreshingly, acknowledged that they probably both needed the liplock after being cheated on and let down by their former significant others.
Coming as a surprise to absolutely no one, Phyllis confronted Billy after watching him share a toast and a smile with Sally. Having no love for the other redhead, she tried to tell her business partner to go back to Chelsea, who kept him on an even keel. Billy told her that she was dead wrong about his relationship with Sally not being a good thing; having a friend to lean on is a positive.
Phyllis’ issues with the fashion designer go all the way back to Sally’s arrival in Genoa City. Not only did the newcomer flirt with Nick right in front of her, gushing over his past involvement with Restless Style, but she had the nerve to date Phyllis’ other ex, Jack. If that weren’t bad enough, Sally solidified her position on Red’s hit list by messing with Summer, who left town as a result.
You can see then, why we’ve declared it seemingly impossible for these two to ever become allies. Even though Sally has made amends with Summer, and is now working harmoniously with her at Marchetti, Phyll still isn’t chill with her. However, we’re convinced there will be a thaw in the cold war now thanks to Young & Restless’ latest twist, which has landed them both on Team Billy.
Like it or not, Phyllis is about to discover that Sally is pushing Billy in exactly the direction she wants him to go. Sally urged Billy to have confidence in his vision and stand up to his mother, which is just what his COO hire is banking on as she tries to hold onto some semblance of a job at Abbott Chancellor and help her boss stand up to Victor’s bullying and Jill’s criticism.
As Billy gears up for the epic battle of his life, Phyllis may be forced to concede that her longtime foe is now one of their strongest allies. Do you want to see Sally and Phyllis work together? Let us know in the comments.
