Tune into a daytime drama, and there are generally a few things you can expect to see: gorgeous people, heightened emotions, nail-biting cliffhangers and, most reliably, a new episode.

But The Bold and the Beautiful is currently bucking tradition, airing what, in a way, amount to reruns.

On one side of the canvas, the show has the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle re-forming in a big way.

And c’mon, by now we’ve seen that story played out with this or that variation approximately a million times.

Heck, it was even the whole thrust of the plot when the last Taylor recast came and went.

On the other side of the canvas, Bold & Beautiful has Liam trying to reunite with Hope for the umpteenth time, repeating a pattern that we all know by heart: Liam screws up. Liam regrets it.

Liam begs for another chance. This time around, the story has the added wrinkle of Hope’s outta-nowhere feelings for Carter.

But how many other times has there also been an extra player in the mix, a Wyatt or an Ivy or a Steffy?

We can’t say we really loved Luna’s arc — rarely has a storyline made less sense! — but one thing we will say for it is that it was unpredictable.

The two current frontburner stories are so telegraphed, they could practically be cut and pasted into scripts.

Ridge will remarry Taylor to cure her broken heart, then when she is cured, he’ll dump her like he always does and go back to Brooke.

Liam will convince Hope to take him back, only for her to discover that her feelings for Carter are as strong as they are instantaneous and leave the waffler again.

Here’s hoping that the return of Ivy and addition of Electra will give the show less of a “been there, seen that” feel.
