A lot has happened since fans last saw the Brown family on television. Many people were wondering how Sister Wives would address the
death of Garrison Brown in the newest season. TLC acknowledged the passing during the first episode. So, what will viewers see during Season
19? Here is what has been revealed.
How TLC Addressed Garrison’s Death In First Episode
Sister Wives fans know that the Brown family experienced a devastating loss in March 2024. Many people have been curious as to how TLC would address the death of Garrison Brown. During the season premiere on September 15, the network provided some content for viewers at home.
The opening title cards shared details about the timeline of filming in relation to Garrison’s death. “This season of Sister Wives began filming in late 2022,” the on-screen note stated. “On March 5, 2024, Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.”
The episode continued, showing events that occurred long before Garrison’s death. However, a press release from TLC said that his death would be addressed in the new season.
“Through the heartbreaking pain,” the press release reads, “the family navigates this incredible tragedy and comes together to mourn and celebrate his life.”
Garrison Brown was one of six children shared by Janelle and Kody Brown. He died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His younger brother Gabriel Brown found him in his home in Arizona.
Sister Wives Season 18 Showed Garrison & Kody’s Relationship In Turmoil
This comes after Sister Wives fans saw tensions rise between Garrison and his father, Kody, last season. Garrison made his grievances against Kody and Robyn Brown known.
In recent years, fans saw Kody alienate many of his older kids due to his strict COVID-19 restrictions. His children felt that he was showing favoritism for Robyn and her kids over their own mothers.
At one point, Kody said, “I’ve reached out to Garrison and Gabriel. They’re blocking me. They’re not interested in talking to me.” However, fans saw Kody’s relationships with his 18 children crumble as the plural family dissolved.
Fans have been pointing out that Kody Brown played favorites in the family from the very beginning. In season one, he brought Robyn into the family. TLC showed their courting process and eventually, she moved into the family home.
Since then, Kody seemed to be focused only on what made Robyn happy. The opinions and concerns of his other three wives (and their children) no longer seemed to matter.
That said, since the death of his son Garrison, Kody has been making an effort to keep in touch with Janelle. The Sister Wives star said that she and her estranged husband continue to check on each other following the tragic event.
Fans will just have to wait and see how things play out this season. New episodes of Sister Wives air on Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
