ALFIE Moon is set to make a shocking Walford exit in upcoming EastEnders scenes.
The character – played by Shane Richie – bags a brand new job requiring him to spend time away from Albert Square
In scenes yet to air, Kat (Jessie Wallace) tells her sons that Alfie’s landed the Manager’s position at the Minute Mart.
As a result, however, the fan favourite has headed off on a two-week training course.
Tommy (Sonny Kendall) is moody and upset, as Alfie has forgotten about their football plans.
However, Kat tries to reassure Tommy that Alfie hasn’t abandoned him.
Meanwhile, Tommy’s unruly behaviour in previous episodes cost his father’s old job.
Alfie has raised the teenager since he was a baby, although he’s not the biological father.
As of late, Tommy’s spiralled out of control and even punched Kat in the stomach on one occasion.
Kat asked Alfie to get involved by taking a disciplinarian role with Tommy.
He closed the bookies he worked at early to have a heart-to-heart with his son, but lost his job in the process.
Earlier this year, bosses revealed that there would be a child on parent abuse storyline between Tommy and Kat.

Soap producer Chris Clenshaw said: “Kat is well-known in Albert Square for her no-nonsense attitude and fiery temper, but this storyline will explore how Tommy manipulates Kat’s unequivocal love for her son to exert his anger and elicit control.
“Jessie [Wallace] and Sonny’s [Kendall] performances have thoughtfully portrayed the complex realities of child to parent abuse with compassion and understanding, and the storyline will demonstrate how Tommy’s behaviour effects their relationship and the wider Slater-Moon family as a whole.
“To ensure we accurately and sensitively portray the realities of child to parent abuse, we have worked alongside Family Based Solutions, PEGS and NSPCC as well as other experts in the field.”
Elsewhere, the BBC soap is also set to air more about Alfie’s prostate cancer diagnosis and its consequences.
THE beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades.
Speaking on the red carpet at the 2024 National Television Awards, Shane addressed what upcoming storylines he was most excited for.
He told The Sun Online: “Alfie playing the prostate cancer. Exciting is the wrong word, but just bringing that to the forefront of, you know, doing on the British soap is really important to the producers and to me.
“We’re about to cover the erectile dysfunction story, which I didn’t think we would do, but that ties in with prostate cancer.”
