Yellowstone fans have been left in tears over a ‘cruel’ twist that saw a member of the Dutton family deceived.
Devotees of Yellowstone have rallied around the character Jamie Dutton, portrayed by Wes Bentley, criticizing the harsh treatment he receives
in the series. A particular fan expressed outrage over a plot twist that misled Jamie into believing he was in the race for Governor.
The controversy emerges as fans eagerly anticipate the second part of season 5 of Taylor Sheridan’s hit Western, set to premiere on November 10.
The upcoming episodes of Yellowstone promise to delve into the lives of the Dutton siblings – Jamie, Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly), and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) – especially after the revelation that Kevin Costner, who plays patriarch John Dutton, will exit the series before its conclusion.
One viewer vented their frustrations on Reddit, expressing their disdain for the Paramount+ series in a passionate tirade, reports the Express.
Posting under the handle @Due-Surround-9940, the disgruntled fan exclaimed: “OMG why they do Jamie like that? ? Another Yellowstone WTF moment…..

They questioned the motives behind Jamie’s gubernatorial ruse, hinting at a potentially tragic outcome, as they continued: “Why in the world did they let Jamie think he was running for governor?! It doesn’t get any crueller than that, now if he offs himself how they gonna feel?!”
Accusing other characters of betrayal, the fan lamented: “Omg I despise BETH, John, and Lynelle how could they do that?! For crying out loud Jamie leased the property when he could have SOLD it.”
Despite their frustration, which they punctuated with a series of weeping emojis, the fan confessed: “I hate this show now fr but imma keep watching.” (sic)
Other viewers chimed in within the comments section, empathizing with the emotional impact of the scenes, with one noting: “People on here often wonder why there are so many Jamie lovers: THIS IS WHY.
“If they gave this guy the occasional win, it would be much easier to hate him and make him the slimey lawyer they’re aiming for.

“Instead, all they do is destroy him in scene after scene and I think it has largely backfired because there are soooooo many people I know who watch this show and are like, ‘He’s the only character I remotely like and root for.’ Oops.” (sic)
One viewer shared their perplexity, admitting: “I can’t figure this show out. It seems like they want you to hate Jamie, and you end up wishing he would finally stand up for himself. And they seem to want you to cheer for Beth, and I just want her to get trampled by horses.”
They added: “Meanwhile the only characters I seem to like are Kacey and his family, and the show can’t figure out what to do with them other than give them an almost comical amount of tragedy.”
Another chimed in with empathy for the character, expressing: “I felt really bad for Jamie in that moment! (As I often do). The guy can just never catch a break and it’s depressing to watch honestly.”
This viewer was also confounded by the storyline, noting: “Even in the season 5 premiere when John, Beth, and Jamie were riding in the limo, John told Jamie that it was HIM that was supposed to be governor, not John, even though John was against Jamie running for governor in the first place. I don’t understand it and I don’t think I ever will.” (sic)
A different fan conveyed frustration with another character, writing: “He is their scapegoat, much of that promoted by Beth. She occasionally has redeeming moments, but she is ruthlessly bent on revenge with Jamie.” (sic)
However, one more fan voiced their dissent, stating: “He’s a weasel, he deserves every bit of agony and hate from that family.” (sic)
