The air date of Days of Our Lives‘ final episode featuring the late actor Drake Hogestyn has been revealed. The actor had become known throughout the years for playing John Black on the series. However, a fan

The Show’s Social Media Confirmed Hogestyn’s Passing
Hogestyn had passed away of pancreatic cancer over the weekend. He was just a day short of his 71st birthday. His passing had been confirmed by the show’s social media accounts this past Saturday.
To audiences, he was arguably best known for his role of John Black on Days of Our Lives. Hogestyn had first appeared on the show in 1986. He also reprised the role in a number of television films and spin-offs, like the limited series, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.

Fans had hoped that they would at least still get to see John Black for a few more stories. However, a fan account revealed some surprising news when when it came to Hogestyn’s final episode.
A Facebook post, from “Jason47’s Days Website,” revealed the episode’s air-date, which featured a photo of his final appearance, alongside Eric Martsolf as Brady Black. The post went more into detail about the episode, also revealing that Hogestyn’s final scene as Black had at least been a poignant one.
A Fan Account Revealed The Episode’s Air-Date
Unfortunately, the post explained that the episode had already aired. As the post explained, “Some additional sad news to report…Drake Hogestyn’s final episode as John Black aired on September 9.”
As the post read, “I got the sad confirmation from ‘Days’ tonight that Drake Hogestyn’s final episode as John Black has already aired, on Monday, September 9. His final scene was with Eric Martsolf (Brady) and Leo Howard (Tate) at the Townhouse.”
“Tate updates John that Holly has yet to read his text. John: ‘She will. And I am sure that she’s going to take you up on it when she is ready.’ Brady opens the door. John’s last line of dialogue (to Brady) is: ‘Does this mean that…’ Brady tells John that Justin has dropped all the charges. John happily laughs and hugs Brady.”
As noted by The U.S. Sun, fans were heartbroken to learn that the actor’s final scenes on the show had already aired. Many had hoped there could even be more material lasting onto the new year. Some fans shared their hope that the series will air a memorial for the actor.
As one user wrote, “So sad to hear his final episode has already aired. I at least thought we would see him until early 2025. Rest in peace Drake, you will be greatly missed.” Another wrote, “So very very sad. Drake was such an outstanding actor and an integral character in the fabric of days of our lives. It will never be the same. He was part of our family of every person who viewed days.”
