There are tragic scenes ahead for Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and his family as his condition worsens in a
new Coronation Street video.
Paul has been living with motor neurone disease for over a year, and his condition has deteriorated
significantly over that time.
Last Christmas, he was given just six months to live, and his family are aware that things could take a turn for the worse at any moment.
It appears that that is exactly what happens in upcoming scenes, which see Paul struggle to breathe while mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) comforts him.
Meanwhile, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) takes charge of ringing for an ambulance, and the crew reveal they are 15 minutes away – time Bernie insists they may not have.
Amid the commotion, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) arrives and wonders aloud where Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) is.
Having gone out for a drink with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), Billy came home slightly worse for wear the previous night, and it wasn’t until he woke up with a hangover the next morning that he realised his phone was missing.
Summer is quick to explain to Kit that he went out in search of his phone and that they don’t know how to contact him, but that they are hoping he’ll return soon.
Actor Daniel Brocklebank revealed to Metro.co.uk that it would be Billy’s worst nightmare not to be there in Paul’s final moments.
‘He’s promised Paul that he will be there in his last moment. Even though everybody had said to him, “Go out for a drink.”
‘It’s not just the fact that he wouldn’t be at the end, either, it would be that he spent Paul’s last night on earth p****d up in a bar somewhere, whereas he could have been at home snuggled up with him, falling asleep next to him, waking up next to him and all of those other bits in between.’
Will Billy make it back in time for Paul’s final moments?
