Tuesday August 13, 2024: Today on Young and Restless, Jack and Phyllis argue about
Harrison’s
situation. Nikki asks Claire if she would consider being her assistant again, and Lily
accuses Billy of
being paranoid.
Monday’s recap: Kyle was infuriated by Summer’s refusal for joint custody, Adam wouldn’t attack Billy so Victor asked Michael to get dirt on Billy.

Harrison and Jack are at the park, looking through old baseball cards.

As they discuss Jack’s favorite players, Phyllis interrupts.

Jack guesses she didn’t just happen to find them. Phyllis asks about how Harrison is feeling and all the plans that Summer is making for him.
She tells him that his mom loves him more than anyone else in the world. As she continues to lay this on thick, Jack cringes until he suggests the kid go see some caterpillars.
CBS
He tells Phyllis she should be ashamed. She tells him he’s being paranoid.
Jack doesn’t see the point in objecting. She tells him Harrison is perfect, but how much trauma does he have to go through before he stops bounding back?
Jack is determined to shield him from any more upset. She suggests this is a do-over for them since they didn’t get to be the parents they could have been.

He reminds her they aren’t Harrison’s parents. They talk about how off-the-rails Kyle is.
Jack doesn’t want to fight. However, he can’t let her blame his son for everything. He suggests she has too much free time of her hands and she’s butting in where she’s not wanted.

Claire drops by her mom’s office and tells her she looks like she’s back in her element.

Victoria admits she’s happy to be back. As they talk lunch, Nikki pops up and asks to tag along.

Nikki, her daughter and granddaughter go to Society. They talk about Claire’s job and she explains that things are getting uglier between Summer and Kyle.

She’s tried to stay neutral but it’s not easy.
Nikki asks if she regrets taking the job.
Claire admits if she was just dealing with Harrison, it would be great. But it isn’t.
Her grandmother reminds her that she was an excellent assistant and she would love to have her working by her side again.
CBS
It would thrill Victor to have her in the family business. Claire never thought there would be a place for her.
CBS
Nikki is sure she can move up the ladder. Victoria says she’s right and urges her daughter to think about it.
Claire would love to work with her grandma again. But it would be hard to leave Harrison.
Victoria suggests she might also not want to leave because of her feelings for Kyle.
CBS
Nikki isn’t pleased to hear about this. Claire insists it’s nothing. Her mom thinks there could be more.
Claire tells them how overwhelmed she is to have such a loving family. But she can’t leave Harrison right now.
He needs her to shield him from the trouble around him. Nikki can admire how kind that choice is.
CBS
Victoria and her mother return to the office and talk about Claire and Kyle.
CBS
Victoria is ambivalent about it all. Kyle has a lot of baggage and Claire has never had a relationship.
They worry that as bright as Claire is, she’s very young in matters of the heart. Victoria doesn’t want her heart broken.
CBS
Neither of them think Kyle would be a good match but realize they will have no influence over her love life.
Victoria knows she’s been deprived and can’t tell her who she should find affection with.
Jack and Harrison go home to the Abbott estate to play go fish.
CBS
Claire shows up. The kid runs upstairs to wash his hands from playing with caterpillars.
Jack asks the nanny if something is wrong. She tells him she’s worried about all the tension around Harrison.
CBS
He knows that his parents don’t like each other any more. He’s trying hard to be happy to distract his parents.
Jack wishes the parents would come to their senses. He blames himself for what he did to Kyle and worries that his son will repeat the same mistake.
Claire wishes she could help. Jack says she’s done lots already. But maybe she could get through to Kyle.

Once Jack exits, Harrison comes down and guesses that Claire is thinking, likely about his parents and how mad they are at him.
She assures him they aren’t mad at him and love him very much. He’s not to blame for anything.

Lily finds Billy in the office, staring at the new logo. She wonders if there will be backlash about it.
CBS
He jokes about whether she’d feel more comfortable adding “Lily” to the name.
He explains that his mom is not on board with him stepping back. He’s having second thoughts himself and suggests they proceed as they originally planned.
“Are you kidding me?” she asks. He’s determined and has already prepared a statement.
CBS
She assumes his pitch to be humble was just a ploy to buy time.
He claims there was a moment where she convinced him he was the problem but that moment is gone.
They bicker about the vulnerability of the company and what would give them the best chance to succeed.
He reminds her that he’s in charge. He knows he brings baggage but he also brought her into the company.
CBS
Billy has realized that she’s not really afraid of Victor, so what is her real agenda.
She tells him to stop looking for conspiracy theories and he accuses her of trying to kick him out.
Lily says that he’s constantly changing his mind and that’s why his businesses fail. She thinks he’s delusional.
CBS
Billy pushes her to prove him wrong and she’s him the press release he’s prepared.
She reads it over and refuses, accusing him of springing this on her. Devon may be a one-man band, but he’s a one-man orchestra.
She accuses him of treating her like a security blanket and threatens to walk.
CBS
He’s sure she wants the company to succeed but doesn’t want to share.
Lily accuses him of just working on gut instincts and trying to prove things to himself. She storms out.
Lily goes to the GCAC for a drink. Phyllis swans over to her, eager for a woman-to-woman talk.
CBS
Lily doesn’t want this but Phyllis thanks her for what she did for Daniel and Princess Louisa.
She claims that Daniel and Heather were just inevitable. She adds Lily is amazing, like her. They persevere.
CBS
Lily wonders what she wants.
Phyllis asks if she’s really staying behind with Billy. Lily does not want to talk to her.
The redhead tells her that Billy is charming and she needs to watch out because, behind that, he is only out for himself.
Wouldn’t she be more comfortable working with her family?
CBS
Jack runs into Billy at Society.
CBS
Billy has been thinking about big stuff and is glad to run into him.
He announces that he’s adding the Abbott name to Chancellor Industries.
Jack heard something about this. He admits he’s not thrilled about it and doesn’t approve because they need to respect Katherine’s legacy.
CBS
Billy declares he’s forging a new legacy and it’s time he start respecting it.
