It looks like heartbreak is around the corner for Steve McDonald again. But this time, it will hurt a lot more as it is coming from no other than his best friend, Tim Metcalfe. In addition, Tim abandons Steve for his rival football hunk, Tommy Orpington. In the coming week, it’s Steve’s 50th birthday.

While Steve is least excited because of his failed marriage and disastrous dating life, Tim plans a fun night out to cheer him up. However, Tim is torn between his best friend and wife, Sally. This comes after Sally tells her husband about an invitation to a gala event at the Weatherfield County ground.

Let us tell you that Sally loves gala events, and Tim knows it very well. And guess what? The gala is on the same night as Steve’s birthday. To make matters worse, the event features the unveiling of a bronze bust of Tommy Orpington, the legendary footballer turned decorator.

Viewers must remember that he is the same guy Steve’s wife Tracy fell in love with and moved to Spain with. As the week continues, Tim cancels on Steve. However, Steve totally misunderstands and thinks a big surprise party is in the works. Also, his false speculations are validated after hearing Sally talk about buying a new outfit.
