GEMMA Winter is arrested as she takes drastic action for the sake of her kids in Coronation Street.

The character – played by Dolly-Rose Campbell – and husband Chesney often struggle to make ends meet

for their large brood.

While Chesney has son Joseph from a previous relationship, the couple also have quads together, meaning there are many mouths to feed and bodies to clothe.

Money has been particularly tight lately, and in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, Gemma’s day goes from bad to worse on the finance front after she receives a £70 parking fine.

Meanwhile, Carys desperately needs new shoes, so they head to the shoe shop to get her feet measured, but when she learns the shoes are £45, Gemma is gutted.

While the assistant’s distracted, Gemma grabs Carys’s hand and they flee the shop without paying.

When her mum Bernie sees the shoes later on, she asks how Gemma afforded them, will Gemma come clean? 

Later, Chesney is serving up kebabs for Joseph’s delighted school mates who are around for dinner, but Bernie gets a shock when she sees one of the dads who has come to collect his son.

Further into the week, Kit is shocked to see Gemma being brought into the police station, having been arrested for stealing the shoes.

Bernie begs Kit to do what he can to secure Gemma’s release.

Kit calls at the shoe shop and explains to the owner that he’s here about the shoplifting incident, and can he get Gemma off.

However, Gemma – who has no idea Kit is her estranged half-brother – is intrigued to know why Kit wanted to help her and introduces him to Chesney and the kids.

Whilst there Kit gets a shocking call from his dad, but what is it about?

Kit arrived in Weatherfield in last month and was revealed to be Bernie Winter‘s long-lost son.

The character is played by former Hollyoaks actor Jacob Roberts who portrayed loveable but troubled Damon Kinsella in the Chester-based soap from 2017 to 2023.
