Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans have been warned about fake social media accounts
impersonating cast members.
An official statement has been uploaded to Corrie’s social media channels, urging people to “take great
care” and submit complaints about fake accounts when necessary.
“Please be mindful that the Coronation Street and Emmerdale actors are often impersonated on social media platforms by scammers who set up fake accounts on platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and Telegram,” the statement reads.

“As producers of both programmes, we feel we should warn viewers that this is happening, and noticeably more frequently of late.
“Please take great care when conversing on social media and be vigilant about these fake accounts by reporting them to the appropriate platform.”

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley was targeted last year by scammers presenting to be her, urging her followers that any direct messaging apparently from her was inauthentic and should be ignored.
“Common sense should REALLY kick in by now, these pages JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!! I am not….will not…..EVER BE PART OF IT!!! Don’t click on ANYTHING on these pages!!!” she urged her followers at the time.

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver also made a video last year to warn fans that scammers had been using her likeness without her consent to advertise diet products.
“It’s crap. It’s a scam. It’s outrageous,” she said. “And I just want you to know that I would never, ever, ever advocate anything like that. I’m absolutely incensed.”
“Life’s too short to worry about dieting and finding quick fixes. Just be happy with yourself.”
