Emmerdale‘s Moira Dingle makes the momentous decision to plead guilty next week – just as Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle undertake a desperate mission to clear her name.

Consumed by guilt for helping Joe Tate frame Moira, Robert even considers turning himself in to spare her loved ones the pain of her imprisonment.

However, before Robert can do the decent thing, a new lead comes to light that blows the case wide open. But can they get evidence to the police before Moira seals her own fate?

“It’s touch and go because Moira is now unshakeable in her determination to plead guilty,” explains our Dales source. “Robert knows that he was the architect of her downfall and that Cain and the boys desperately need Moira back where she belongs.

“But time isn’t on their side as he and Aaron try to save her…”

At the start of the week, Robert’s focus is on Bear Wolf, who he believes must have vital information that could help clear Moira’s name. But Paddy is furious that Robert has visited the prison to pile pressure on his vulnerable dad.

As every lead appears to go nowhere, Robert breaks the news to Aaron that he intends to hand himself in as he can’t watch Moira’s kids go through such heartbreak when he was to blame.

Aaron can’t bear the idea of losing Robert again now they finally have a chance to build a life together and begs him for one more night together. Fortunately, the very next day, Robert’s hunch about Bear pays off when he tips them off about a car number plate Ray asked him to hide.

“You might not think of Aaron as a hotshot detective, but he and Kammy Hadiq manage to use this plate to trace a storage warehouse in Hotten at a speed that would put cops from Line of Duty to shame,” continues our spy.

“Given the sheer number of units there, it looks like they’ll be searching for a needle in a haystack. That’s until Marlon pipes up with info about a key from Celia’s farm that handily has a number on it that changes everything.”

Given what she and her family have been through in recent months, nobody could blame Moira for feeling as though the only luck she has is rotten.

However, it turns out the storage unit is a treasure trove of evidence that can surely prove Moira’s innocence. The only reason she is pleading guilty is that it’ll reduce her sentence and get her home to the boys quicker.

But as Cain rushes to court with this breaking news, will he get there before Moira enters her plea, or will Robert and Aaron’s efforts be in vain?
