EastEnders has aired an emotional development in Ravi Gulati’s mental health storyline as he agreed to seek professional help. The decision came after an encounter with Mark Fowler that almost left him for dead.
Ravi has been struggling with his mental health for months, with his state taking a nosedive as a result of beating up his son Nugget after being drugged.
After willingly revealing he was the informant Mark had been tasked to find and kill, Ravi was saved by the intervention of his partner Priya Nandra-Hart, as well as Phil Mitchell, Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall, who teamed up to bring Mark to reason.
In tonight’s episode, Ravi agreed to see a GP as Priya encouraged him to be honest about self-harming.
The GP tried to handle the situation sensitively, but Priya protested when they were informed that the waiting list to receive specialised treatment was “around eight weeks”.

Much to an unimpressed Priya’s disbelief, the doctor recommended meditation and exercise in the meantime and prescribed Ravi some medication to help with insomnia and anxiety.
Meanwhile, Phil called in a few favours from former associates so that Mark wouldn’t have to carry out the hit on Ravi. However, he told his nephew that “a few words from [him could] only go so far” as Mark’s boss asked for £100,000 to settle his debt.

At home, Ravi pretended he needed to lie down so he could be alone, continuing avoiding Nugget.
Later on, Ravi went for a walk to clear his head, causing Priya to worry. He asked his partner to try and not panic whenever he was alone and pleaded with her to give the meds a try before going down the private healthcare route.
In the final scenes, Ravi started taking his meds, while Mark revealed to have paid a man to steal Max Branning’s classic car so he could pay back his boss.
