Coronation Street actor Liam McCheyne has revealed that Dylan Wilson and Betsy Swain will soon be in the limelight, starring in an important plot on the ITV soap.
We’ve seen slightly less of Dylan in recent months, as he’s kept himself out of trouble since his darker storylines exploring knife crime and car-stealing. As the focus now shifts to Dylan’s relationship with Betsy, what will the show’s writers have in store?
“It’s going to be quite a big 2026,” Liam told Inside Soap. “I’ve got a nice storyline to get my teeth stuck into, which is great.

“It’ll be quite a lot of work with Sydney [Martin, who plays Betsy]. It’s very coming of age. It’s a subject storyline, which is obviously Corrie‘s speciality – it’s one thing the show is amazing at. So I’m very excited for that.”
Fans know that Betsy has already had a dramatic start to the year, as she was involved in the Corriedale crash in January thanks to the sly antics of her mum Becky.

We’ve also recently seen a flashforward scene showing Betsy being interviewed by police after finding a body on Lisa and Carla’s wedding day.
Asked whether he’d like to see Dylan and Betsy build on their relationship, Liam replied: “Yes, it would be nice. Because of the off-screen friendship I have with Sydney, it’d be really nice to get into it a little bit more. And Dylan’s trying hard here, let’s be honest! He’s a trier, bless him.”

Quizzed on whether he thinks they’re compatible, Liam confirmed: “I do. Dylan is a nice kid at the end of it. He’s had a troubled upbringing, but he’s always kept to his roots.
“He has a good heart, he knows what’s right and wrong. He’s done the wrong thing, he’s learnt from that. I think he’d be good for Betsy, but I also think she’d be good for him. It’s quite a nice balance in how they’re different.”
