Emmerdale Soap Scoop! Cain tells Moira the truth
Emmerdale legend Mark Charnock has exclusively revealed the poignant story behind Marlon and Paddy Dingle’s special two-hander episode, set to air in the coming weeks.
Marlon and Paddy have both faced difficult times over the past few months, as they’ve each been affected by Ray Walters and Celia Daniels’ terrible crimes. After largely dealing with their problems separately, is the time now right for the best pals to unite again?
“It’s an episode where you see Paddy and Marlon’s need for each other is total,” Mark told Inside Soap.

“Paddy is going through something really traumatic, Marlon’s going through something that is potentially traumatic, so it’s almost like a magnet across the village.
“They just had to find each other to deal with it, which is what they do in this episode.”

It’s the first time that the iconic duo will star in an Emmerdale episode on their own – and Mark is thrilled to be taking on the challenge.
“It’s really well written and directed,” he added. “Marlon and Paddy have never had a two-hander before, really. It’s very exciting to do.

“We’ve had lots of long scenes, but apart from the spin-off videos, we’ve never really had a two-hander. We’re really enjoying it!”
Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy, first revealed the plans for this special episode last month.
“I think there’s an episode coming up with me and Mark – just a two-hander, where we spill the beans to each other and we become bonded again,” Dominic said.
“Which is lovely because they’ve got a three-decade-long friendship. So that’ll be really great, I’m looking forward to that.”
This year, Marlon has been trying to pick up the pieces for his family now that Ray and Celia are both dead. His teenage daughter April Windsor was groomed by the evil pair in a dark storyline last year.

Marlon’s hopes for a brighter 2026 could soon be thwarted, though, as Graham Foster continues to fight to win back Rhona Goskirk following his return from the dead.
Meanwhile, Paddy has been desperately trying to protect his father Bear Wolf after witnessing him kill Ray. Following several near-misses recently, will DS Walsh ever manage to prove that Paddy and Dylan Penders were both involved in the cover-up?
