Emmerdale‘s Cain Dingle is still keeping the news of his cancer diagnosis a secret from nearly all of his friends and family — and it’s really getting to him. Although Sarah Sugden has been one of his few confidantes and pillars of support, tonight’s episode saw the tensions erupt in a big showdown.

At the start of the latest instalment, Cain was having a go at Charity for rocking up the garage and demanding that he prioritise fixing Mackenzie Boyd’s car over paying customers who had already booked, when Jacob Gallagher turned up.

Jacob revealed that Cain had roped Sarah into stealing cars with him, which Charity was furious about.

The two raged at him for jeopardising Sarah’s future, especially when she’s about to become a mother. Cain insisted that he tried to tell Sarah no, but she was adamant due to all their money issues.

Not wanting to listen to it anymore, Cain walked off.

Dr Liam Cavanagh, who also knows about Cain’s secret, later popped round to the house and wondered if getting Sarah to help steal cars was a sign that he wasn’t coping with keeping things under wraps.

Liam tried to convince him to open up to more people, but Cain pretended he wasn’t listening and showed him the door.

Sarah later went to Cain’s to talk about the situation, but it quickly derailed into a shouting match.

“Stop tip-toeing around me and patronising me” Cain ranted, so Sarah asked him what he wanted her to do.

“Why don’t you just back off, and leave me alone?!” he responded. But all that did was set Sarah.

“Did you ever think about why I’m the only person in the family who knows about your cancer? Because you’re a coward” she told him. “I am putting my marriage on the line here, I am lying to Jacob, only to have you yell at me, and blame me for everything? You need to sort this out now, and talk to Moira because I can’t go on like this.”
