There is a major twist coming up in Coronation Street and the ITV soap is already dropping hints after a significant death.
Tonight’s episode saw Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) learn that his dad Jim had died from pneumonia.
Last week, Steve discovered that Jim had forged his signature and listed him as a guarantor, leaving him in debt after Jim failed to pay his rent.
Determined to confront his dad, Steve headed to the hospital, but ultimately decided that he couldn’t face him.
In the days that followed, Steve missed several calls from Jim, but tonight he got the bad news.
It came at a terrible time for Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney), who was on one knee in front of a collection of flowers spelling out ‘Marry me?’ as part of her plan to propose to Steve.

Of course, the proposal was immediately put on hold and Steve and Cassie headed to the Rovers to toast Jim.
It was there that Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) began to ask questions about Jim, and they seemed more interrogative than you might expect from a pub landlady.
That’s because, as it will be revealed at a later date, Jim is also Ben Driscoll’s (Aaron McCusker) dad.
As first revealed by Radio Times, Maggie had an affair with Jim four decades ago, with the truth set to be exposed in an upcoming shock twist.
Fans had their suspicions that Maggie was somehow involved with at least one of the inhabitants of No.1, after she began acting strangely after spotting something in a cupboard there.

Over the past few months, we have been drip-fed further clues, including the fact that Ben was likely conceived during an affair.
Tonight, after coincidentally pouring out Jim’s favourite drink for their toast, Maggie was particularly interested in how Jim died, quizzing Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) for the answers.
Meanwhile, despite Ben having proved to be quite a good friend to Steve, the pair fell out at the end of tonight’s episode, after Ben made an ill-timed joke about them both being members of the ‘dead dads club’.
