A NEW romance was confirmed in Emmerdale last night, but one member of the happy couple found themselves apologising after an awkward run-in.

On Thursday Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) confirmed their romance in a conversation with Vinny’s mother Mandy (Lisa Riley) at The Hop.

It was only two days after Vinny and Lewis shared a passionate kiss, no longer able to deny their chemistry.

Mandy was beyond excited by the news, loudly whispering: “You two, like together, as an item?”

Vinny prompted her to keep her voice down, as his ex-wife Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) was nearby and he didn’t want her to find out the news that way.

Mandy continued to gush: “It’s just nice to finally have some good news, that’s all.”

But the sweet Emmerdale atmosphere didn’t remain for long, as Gabby had in fact overheard that Vinny was in a new relationship.

An unimpressed expression took over her face, so later on in the episode Vinny approached her to have a mature conversation about it.

“It’s fine,” she told Vinny. “We live in the same village. Of course, we’re gonna bump into each other.”

Vinny responded by guiltily saying him and Lewis “shouldn’t have been in [there] in the first place.”

But Gabby shot that down, quickly replying with: “Vinny, look, I am happy for you and Lewis,” though as she said it she looked rather sombre.

She continued: “You’re a great guy and we had some really lovely times together. You deserve to be happy.”

Fans of the show felt happy for Vinny and Lewis, but simultaneously sorry for Gabby.

One user said: “Poor Gabby. Literally one minute her & Vinny are newlyweds, having just moved into a brand new home together, which they were slowly redecorating together thanks to Kim, she was even talking about him adopting [Thomas, her child] & now V’s [Vinny’s] totally moved on like they never even happened.

Another added: “Mandy telling Gabby she’s celebrating Lewis and Vinny forgetting that she was once married to Vinny.”

Vinny and Gabby first got together in 2024, and had even discussed starting a family together.

But the former flames sadly weren’t meant to be, so they called time on their marriage in October 2025.

It was only a matter of weeks after their wedding when it all came crashing down.

The split was largely driven by Gabby admitting to cheating on Vinny while she was in Portugal.

At the time Vinny was still confused about his sexuality.
