EastEnders Soap Scoop! Clare returns in Nigel story
EastEnders fans have called out This Morning for seemingly forgetting Suki and Eve when talking about Coronation Street‘s upcoming Swarla wedding. Appearing on the ITV daytime show yesterday, soaps expert Sharon Marshall shared a live update from the set of Corrie on the upcoming wedding between Lisa Swain and Carla Connor.
During the broadcast, Marshall told show hosts Ben Shephard and Angela Scanlon: “I can tell you they are filming the Swarla wedding today. And it is a marriage as well – it’s going to be a first in soap history, two girls getting married without any calamities on the way.”
Fans reacted to Marshall’s comment, pointing out that EastEnders characters Suki Panesar and Eve Unwin were married in the New Year’s Day episode, which aired on 1 January 2025.
Eve and Suki’s ceremony on EastEnders went off without a hitch, with the drama following afterwards when Nish Panesar gatecrashed their celebrations and caused chaos.
While there were some calamities following Eve and Suki’s wedding, fans pushed back at the implication that Lisa and Carla’s would be the first successful soap wedding between two women, noting that Suki and Eve’s actual vows were drama-free.

“Slightly ignorant from Sharon Marshall here – taking into account she’s a former #EastEnders writer and TM still talk about EE in their soap segment,” one soap fan said on X.
Responding to the post, Marshall clarified her comment by saying: “First Corrie wedding. Not soap. I was up live at Corrie x (Every Corrie soap w/w wedding has ended in disaster and never a marriage but these two get married x) (obvs I love sukeve too) x”
After the fan replied praising the “the WLW rep” regardless of which soap did it first, Marshall added: “Hear hear x (and I LOVE you defend Sukeve. That’s what X is for. Am just glad no exes turned up near balconies for this one x).”

Following her day on set, Marshall shared an update on Instagram, teasing what’s to come.
She captioned the post: “A proper lovely day at Corrie. Thank you for inviting us. @coronationstreet.
“We’ll bring you the full wedding video at the end of April. But the girls looked SO beautiful. And you’ll laugh and cry at a gorgeous script. A joyous day.”
