Coronation Street fans think they have spotted the reason behind Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s wedding date and were quick to praise the long-running show for the move.
Back in January, the ITV soap’s producer Kate Brooks that the two characters would be hearing wedding bells this spring following their recent reunion, which came after a very turbulent time for the pair.
As fans know, and will not forget in a hurry, Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain, returned from the dead and quite quickly put a spanner in the works for the newly engaged couple, who had also not long moved into their first home together, No.6 Coronation Street.
But fast forward to their reunion, after Becky was sentenced to 12 years behind bars, and Carla has since surprised Lisa, by booking their wedding date at the Chariot Square Hotel.
While it has already been suggested that their upcoming nuptials will be plain sailing for the two women after quite a dramatic few months for their relationship, their ‘beautiful’ wedding day will end with a shock for poor Betsy Swain as Lisa’s daughter discovers one of her neighbours dead on the cobbles.
During a special flashforward episode of Corrie, which aired last week, viewers saw a police interview taking place on April 23rd, 2026. As the drama unfolded, a shocked and anxious Betsy is seen telling the detectives about finding the dead body of someone she knows.

Dressed in wedding clothes, she explains that she had been at the wedding of her mum and Carla, but was heading into town to carry on the celebrations, which she described as “beautiful”, when she made the shocking discovery.
As the episode returned to the present day, viewers started to see how the behaviour of the five characters could lead to their possible death two months later. It confirmed that Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster are the five potential victims of the upcoming murder, as each potentially has a reason to be brutally killed.
But back to Carla and Lisa’s wedding day, and Corrie fans think they have spotted the significance behind the choice of wedding date and have applauded the soap for the decidion – whether initential or by coincidence.
