Secret backstory. Secret vendetta. Secret schemes. Is there anyone on Coronation Street with more secrets than Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown)? Well buckle up for another, as the villain’s plans for revenge against her half-sister Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) are threatened by a mysterious newcomer…
In a soap rife with baddies galore, you’ve really got to grab our attention to stand out. Jodie has certainly done that, mostly by keeping more skeletons in her closet than Shuttleworth’s Independent Funeral Director.
Just in case escaping from Emmerdale villain Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) van in Corriedale wasn’t intriguing enough, she’s been keeping a whole treasure trove of secrets from Shona ever since she crashed back into her life.
The biggest secret Jodie is keeping is why she is in Coronation Street in the first place. She fabricated a story about escaping a physically abuse partner and even attending a domestic violent support group for research to make it sound convincing.
This was merely a ruse to get Shona on side. The truth is Jodie massively resents her estranged sibling for running away as a teenager, leaving her at the mercy of their toxic father and enabling mother.
The negative feelings she has towards her sister is shown in this new video, where Jodie struggles to hide her disgust as she hears Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) talk about how Shona made David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) a better man.
The other whopper of a bombshell Jodie’s been concealing from Shona is their dad, Doug Ramsay (Steve Evets). When Shona discovered that her half-sis has been visiting Jodie in a psychiatric ward all this time, Jodie was quick to paint herself as a hero caring for their father.

She put his confusion and angry outbursts down to a breakdown, using this to discredit him when he tried to warn Shona that Jodie is a “liar”. But as soon as Shona’s back was turned, the wayward Ramsey sister showed her nasty side and warned her dad to stay in line – or else.
Then there’s the locket. You remember. That intriguing golden locket that may as well have ‘plot device’ written on it, stored in a box of Jodie’s keepsakes along with a USB stick, a lighter and a ring.
While Jodie claimed to have found the locket in a charity shop, the picture inside of two smiling little girlfriends imply otherwise. Who are these girls?
It looks like we might be about to find out. Upcoming scenes will see Jodie blindsided by a blast from her past rocking up on the Cobbles. And whoever it is, they have an identical locket to hers. The plot thickens…

Jodie’s out-walking David the Dog and gets an earful from Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) for not scooping her pup’s poop. Meanwhile, someone watches her from a distance, clutching the locket.
Enter Olivia. Whoever this woman is, she seems to know Jodie, and Jodie does not look happy to see her. Giving the Spanish Inquisition, Olivia quizzes Jodie as to why she left and reminds her that she used to say how much she enjoyed looking after her and her sister.
