Coronation Street fans think they have ‘worked out’ what really happens to Betsy Swain – as it has been teased that she will be involved in a car accident.

Things are currently exciting for the Connor-Swains after Betsy’s mum, Lisa Swain, popped the question to her girlfriend Carla Connor in a huge public display of affection.

After Carla’s recent failed attempts to pop the question to the detective sergeant, it was during Wednesday’s (September 3) episode of the ITV soap, that fans finally got what they were hoping for the couple, known lovingly as ‘Swarla’.

Initially, Carla was in quite the mood when she headed into work at the Underworld factory, with Lisa still making it clear she was upset with her.

It came after their row with neighbour David Platt about the recycling uncovered Carla’s notes about Tia Wardley – the name given to her by Logran Radcliffe as she searched for some answers about Lisa’s late wife, Becky.

But Lisa’s continued angst with her partner was part of her plan, and with the help of Ryan Connor, she set about her own way of popping the question.

At Underworld, staff ushered Carla outside to the sound of sirens as the police arrived, only to find Ryan poking his head out of the police car before a uniform-clad Lisa stepped out of her car.

She then proceeded to ask Carla to marry her, dropping down to one knee in front of a growing audience on the famous street. Betsy also tossed Carla her ring box, and she then pulled Lisa to her feet. The pair exchanged rings while the onlookers cheered.

But it doesn’t look like things are going to remain blissful for the family, as it was previously teased by Corrie that more drama will arrive this month.

With autumn round the corner and the nights drawing in, the ITV soap is making sure that temperatures continue rising as they gave viewers a sneak peek at some of the sizzling storylines coming up on the cobbles in September.

In part of the snippet teasing what’s to come, a distracted Betsy, who is on the phone, is blindsided when a car quickly approaches behind her, driven by Brody Michaelis, while Dylan is the passenger alongside him.

It comes as it was revealed that the teens have been enlisted in a car stealing scheme by Carl Webster. The dodgy half-brother of Kevin and Debbie Webster needs help with his scam and he enlists Brody and Dylan, with the soap confirming it comes with devastating consequences.

New spoilers for next week’s Corrie episodes have now revealed more details. It’s Betsy’s 18th birthday and she’s been out all night. Arriving back for her party, drinks are poured and Betsy raises a toast to the photo of her later mum, Becky, on the side.

As Betsy announces she’s off into town with her mates, Lisa quizzes her about her social life. Pointing out she’s no longer a little girl, the teen drops a bombshell, and reveals she slept with Dylan Wilson last night.

The spoilers continue that later, in the precinct, Betsy leaves a voice message for Dylan and another for Lisa but before she can finish, there’s a loud crash as a stolen car hits something close by and Betsy lets out a scream.

Corrie is remaining tight-lipped on what happens next, with it only known that as the next episode arrives, Lisa’s sent spiraling as she reels in shock after last night’s events.

But, following DI Costello’s warning about ‘taking care of Swain’, as fans fear he is the corrupt officer behind her late wife, Becky’s, death, some Corrie fans think Betsy won’t be hit by the car, but be kidnapped instead.

Alongside the line in the spoilers about Betsy’s scream and Lisa’s spiral, BasisEnough4088 wrote on Reddit: “Yeah, I do think she gets kidnapped.” Fun-Cheesecake454 replied: “Let me guess, Costello has her kidnapped when originally it was meant to be Kit who arranges it? Sounds about right.”

Patient-Secret3565 shared: “I do believe Betsy might end up getting kidnapped but also how could Betsy scream if she gets hit by a car that quickly but it will become a twist that someone who is driving that same model type car that Brody and Dylan are driving might be the one who kidnaps Betsy.”

BasisEnough4088 ponted out: “That ain’t the car Dylan & Brody are in as it’s a completely different area, and from an article Fiz is the one in danger with those two, I did make a post like a week or two ago questioning who would be the first person to get kidnapped if they brought the full on kidnappings back so maybe Costello takes her as it’s revealed he’s the bent cop instead of Becky so he can use Betsy as leverage.”
