Coronation Street has included an image transformation for Roy Cropper in tonight’s episode.
As fans tune in on Wednesday (3 September), they’ll see Roy with a fresh pair of frames. “It really is amazing, the details I can pick out in these new glasses,” the character says while looking at Carla and Lisa’s engagement rings.

A Corrie legend, Roy’s storyline this week will involve Carla. As he and Evelyn Plummer sit down to dine with Carla and Lisa at the Bistro on Friday, the quartet will find themselves confronted by the mysterious Tia Wardley, who turns up and introduces herself out of the blue.
In other joyful news this evening, Lisa will pop the question after Carla’s failed attempts to propose. Available on ITVX and YouTube, several viewers have already streamed the episode and described the ‘Swarla’ moment as “perfect” and “romantic”.
Elsewhere in the episode, Todd will attempt to justify Theo’s concerning behaviour while talking to Sarah. Unfortunately for Todd, however, his boyfriend’s mood swings are getting worse by the day, especially after he loses his temper and threatens Billy.
Meanwhile, a chat with Lisa will send Kit on an investigation of his own after she mentions that Logan gave Carla a dead-end tip about a woman named Tia Wardley. As he begins to look up Logan and Tia on his computer, Kit becomes determined to make some kind of breakthrough.
Roy, played by David Neilson, has been a mainstay on Coronation Street for over 30 years, following his arrival in Weatherfield in 1995. Speaking about his decade-spanning run as Roy, Neilson told Wiltshire Farm Foods in 2021: “He’s a good character to play – he’s very distinctive.”
“We’re not really alike – except that when I was first in the show, my wife was queuing up in the supermarket, and the woman on the checkout was saying to someone, ‘That Roy Cropper was in here the other day, and he’s just as scruffy in real life as he is on the telly!’
“So in that respect, yes, I am like Roy! I think he is very honourable, which is something that I would strive for, but I’ve got family and I’m a bit easier with people than he is. He finds it difficult being in company, which is really weird because he’s quite a popular character.”
