Coronation Street’s Carl Webster could be in danger as fans believe he’s set to begin a third affair after a huge James Bailey twist.

Soap enthusiasts will be aware that Carl (Jonathan Howard) has been having a secret fling with Abi (Sally Carman), who is married to his older brother, Kevin (Michael Le Vell).

Last month, as Kevin was gearing up to whisk his family away on a holiday to Mallorca, Abi lied about misplacing her passport to snatch some alone time with Carl.

However, their romantic rendezvous was abruptly interrupted when Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) spotted the pair kissing through the kitchen door.

Tracy demanded £10,000 to keep quiet about the affair, leading Carl to declare his plan to raise the money by stealing cars from the garage, reports the Daily Star.

As Abi jetted off to Spain to spend some quality time with her family, Carl surprisingly found himself bonding with James Bailey (Jason Callender) last week.

After Carl rebuffed Tracy outside his hotel room, a naked James was revealed to already be in his bed.

Carl’s spark with James has been growing over the past few weeks after they’d organised some personal training sessions together, but their newfound bond has left fans stunned.

During Monday’s (September 1) episode, the pair met up again and confirmed their intentions to continue exploring their connection.

Now, numerous Corrie fans are speculating that Carl could kickstart a third affair in forthcoming scenes, with many suggesting it could be with Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

Theo is presently dating Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), with a sinister plotline looming for the couple as Theo carries on exerting dominance over his boyfriend.

Following Todd’s late return home on Monday after socialising with his friends in the Rovers, Theo struck out violently before gathering his belongings and departing number eleven.

“I’ve packed my stuff and I’m leaving. I don’t ever want to see you again,” he declared.

On the prospect of Theo starting a fresh romance with Carl, one viewer posted on a Facebook fan page: “Didn’t see Carl and James coming at all. What if he goes to Theo next?”

Another commented: “Now Theo’s left Todd (thank goodness!) I could see him beginning something with Carl,” whilst a third remarked: “I agree. Carl and Theo could totally be a thing.”

Meanwhile, a fourth fan expressed: “I think Carl’s getting close to James to get Dee Dee to back off with her MOT case. I don’t think it’s real.”
