Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has told fans she’s at a ‘loss for words’ as fans rushed to support the return of her joint venture with her fellow actress.
Fans of the star, who is best known for playing DS Lisa Swain in the ITV soap, will know that she is close friends with Corrie co-star Sally Carman-Duttine, aka Weatherfield’s Abi Webster, and fellow actress Erin Shanagher.
The trio are often seen spending birthdays together, and recently enjoying a girls’ trip to Paris, which Sally documented on social media.
But it’s Vicky and Erin, who has starred in The Bay and Peaky Blinders, who have teamed up for the Secret Santa Hamper. The pair first started the charity venture in 2020, in a bid to help families in Greater Manchester who were in food poverty during the Christmas period, by providing essential food hampers.
The post on their Go Fund Me page: “Since then, with the support and generosity of the public, we have created and delivered over 2000 food hampers to children and their families during the Christmas holidays.
“To mark five years of Secret Santa, again with your much valued support, we aim to raise a phenomenal £15,000 so we can help 1000 families this Christmas.
“Last year, we were inundated with requests from schools with young children who were in food poverty and in need of help. So, this year, we aim to help even more families across the borough by increasing the fundraising total to fulfil the aim of creating 1000 essential food hampers.”
It’s over the weekend that Vicky took to social media to share her gratitude as fans got behind the campaign, which has smashed its £15,000 target, as at the time of writing the current total sat at more than £17,000.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), Vicky shared: “Oh my goodness! I’m at a loss for words. HUGE thanks to you all for your kindness and generosity. We are astounded and astonished the target has been surpassed in such a short space of time! YOU’RE AMAZING! Heartfelt thanks. Much love #SecretSantaHamper2025.”
And fans were quick to respond. @tccjanet said: “Thank you and Erin for all that you do in giving your time as well as efforts for a very worthy cause especially at Christmas when a lot of families are struggling. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Well done.”
