There’s romance in the air next week on Coronation Street as sparks fly between Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne), amidst the latter’s absorption into Carl Webster’s (Jonathan Howard) car stealing racket alongside Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey).
The teenage duo come together next week amid their respective dramas and it’s clear there’s solid chemistry between them.
Next week, Betsy finds herself firmly wrapped up in the proposal-fest between her mum, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Carla Connor (Alison King)
‘Swarla’ fans will know that the couple have thus far, had two botched proposals.
Lisa popped the question first, but her grief over Craig Tinker’s (Colson Smith) murder led to Carla kindly rejecting the proposal, while Carla’s own attempt featuring a ring in a champagne glass was scuppered when she learned that Becky, Lisa’s ex-wife had proposed in an identical way.
Prior to Carla’s next attempt, she decides to request Betsy’s blessing prior to popping the question.
True to form, Betsy playfully teases Carla and makes her sweat before giving Carla her full and unequivocal consent, noting that she’d never seen her Mum so happy in a warm scene.
While Betsy basks in the love that’s clearly in the air at the Connor-Swain residence, Dylan’s behaviour is taking a much darker turn.
Alongside his tearaway friend, Brody, he’s been taken into Carl’s car theft operation and, early in the week, he tells them to do some research into the location of vulnerable high-end cars that would be easily stolen.
Later in the week, Brody lets Carl know that he and Dylan will be spending the day stealing cars and brags about the amount of cash they’ll be bringing in to the operation.
It’s apparent, though, that Dylan is nervous and clearly not as invested in the racket as Brody.
Unfortunately, the duo have barely gotten the first car open when they’re caught red handed by James Bailey (Jason Callender).
Will Betsy and Dylan’s young love be scuppered by his criminal escapades before it gets chance to even begin?
