EastEnders star Heather Peace has had her hair cut for the first time since receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer.
The actress, 50, revealed her diagnosis in May in an emotional Instagram post that saw her being fitted with a wig for her role as Eve Unwin-Panesar in the BBC soap.
‘I’ve been on quite a road for many months now. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of October,’ she said.
‘Since then I’ve undergone surgery and recovery over the Christmas period and today my chemotherapy journey ended.’
She continued: ‘But I’m forever changed. During this time I’ve narrowed my world. I’ve had the most precious time with my wife Ellie and our 3 girls; Annie, Jessie & Lola.
‘Just trying to appreciate every moment of them. I’ve stayed still. I’ve found joy in the simplest of things. Interactions with others have felt honest and real because I’ve had no capacity for small talk. It has felt like such a personal shift. There have been so many positives.’
‘This is the moment’: Heather Peace reveals her new style
With her hair starting to grow back following treatment, Heather trusted her friend Morgan Rhodes to cut her locks into a new style this weekend.
And she looks utterly radiant!
Taking off an orange baseball cap, she light-heartedly showed her social media followers what she described as ‘the full glory of the carnage’.
‘Ok this is it now,’ she began.
‘Me and Morgan are going to cut this disaster of a hair line. We’re gonna do it. This is the moment. We’re going for the pixie crop.
‘We’re doing it. I’ve had a hat on since February. It is a disaster. I’ll just show the full glory of the carnage. Here we go.’
As Morgan got to work, Heather beamed with excitement before posing for a number of snaps set to the tune of The Beatles’ 1969 hit Here Comes The Sun.
In the video’s caption, she thanked the hairdresser for ‘helping [her] feel confident again,’ using hashtags to say she’s hopeful, loves life and to raise awareness of breast cancer.

The new do harks back to her youth – when she starred as Sally ‘Gracie’ Fields in four series of the ITV soapy drama London’s Burning.
One fan picked up on the throwback, commenting: ‘Short hair always suited you. London’s Burning vibes.’
‘My God you are gooooorgeous!!’ said another.
‘You look amazing, Heather!’ added a third.
‘I hope EastEnders are being kind to you. I know you’re post-treatment of cancer but the fatigue and other health issues post chemo/radiotherapy don’t suddenly vanish the minute you get the all clear’ wrote a fourth follower.
Heather Peace reveals how she wanted to continue working following her diagnosis
Speaking to Gaby Roslin last month about recent storylines, she reflected on an epic New Year for her character Eve and wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal), when the two were targeted by the evil Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) on their wedding day.
‘We got back to Brighton at 7 o’clock, and I was on the road at 10 past five that morning, to Elstree, to start possibly the two biggest weeks that I’ve done on EastEnders,’ she said.

‘I said, “I need to come in” because at this point I don’t know what’s going to happen. And I want to finish this arc of the story.
‘Not coming in for the next two weeks is not going to change anything, but at least let me put the full stop on a story that’s been playing out for nearly two and a half years.
‘If we get to the end of that and we see them get married and we see them successful, if beyond that it’s a mess, I can leave and feel like I’ve put a full stop on something.’
