This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
In tonight’s Coronation Street, it was finally confirmed that Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) would be leaving Weatherfield for good, following Adam’s announcement that he would be leaving the show earlier this year.
‘I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures,’ the actor wrote on Instagram in April, alongside a series of photos from his time on the show.
He continued: ‘Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!
‘This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!
‘I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!’
In the past few months, Adam’s character Aadi has found himself in increasingly more trouble, having made some critical financial errors while running Dev Alahan’s (Jimmi Harkishin) shop.
While Dev was in India, he left Aadi in charge of the businesses, with the young man hoping he’d be able to prove himself as manager material.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite pan out that way when Aadi mistakenly ordered too much stock that he was then unable to shift.
Determined to fix things, he took drastic action by staging a robbery, hoping to claim back the losses on the insurance.
However, when Dev found out about this, he was beyond furious, and things only got worse from there.

While Dev was away, Aadi had thrown a party, which was crashed by Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).
When Aadi learned that Brody had brought LSD to the do, he confiscated it and kicked both boys out.
Unsure of what to do with the drugs, he agreed with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) that the three of them would take them.
However, Aadi clumsily left his spiked cup unattended, and Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) picked it up by mistake. What followed was a traumatic experience for Lauren, as she hallucinated abuser Joel Deering and ended up in hospital.
In the aftermath, Aadi supported her in her recovery and the pair eventually began dating – until it all went horribly wrong.

Having confessed to Dev about the insurance fraud, devastated Aadi got drunk and came clean to Lauren that it had been his spiked drink that she’d had at the party.
Lauren was horrified, and couldn’t get past the lies, even going so far as to later call the police.
Ashamed of his son, Dev organised for Aadi to join cousin Vikram in India and take on a job there.
Aadi was initially against the idea, but in tonight’s episode he came round to it.
After receiving a call from the police informing him that they would no longer be pursuing the case against him, Aadi told Dev and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) that he had decided to go to India after all, as there was nothing left for him in Weatherfield.

Though Asha argued that he had friends and family who would miss him, it was clear Aadi was ready for a fresh start.
But will he get that far?
Spoilers have revealed that Asha is left in a panic next week when one of her shifts as a student paramedic sees her called to a car accident, where she recognises Aadi’s car instantly.
