Fans will recall that the actress’ character in the ITV soap, Amy Barlow, was devastated when she thought her partner Jacob Hay, played by Jack James Ryan, had returned to his bad ways before he left Weatherfield.

Viewers came to like Jacob after he was initially despised for grooming Simon Barlow and for his treatment of a grieving Leanne Battersby following the death of her son, Oliver.

When he later returned to the cobbles in 2022, Jacob struck up a relationship with Amy and while his return was initially met with disapproval from Simon, Leanne and Amy’s family, he went on to turn things around and even moved in with Ken Barlow and co at No.1.

However, Corrie fans later saw Jacob leave Weatherfield with those closest to him thinking the worst after he pretended to be back dealing drugs.

It came as he was seen getting into trouble with his drug boss dad, Damon Hay, and being warned to leave the street or risk Amy being hurt, leaving his girlfriend heartbroken.

But in real life, Jack has stayed close pals with Amy actress Elle Mulvaney and the pair were recently reunited as Elle headed to watch him in his latest role.

Jack is currently appearing in Sing Street at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. Based on the 2016 film of the same name, Sing Street is set in 1980s Dublin and follows 16-year-old Conor, who, after moving to a new school, forms a band to impress a mysterious girl who is too cool for school.

Director, Rebecca Taichman previously said in a statement: “This is a hard show to cast: we need youth, serious musicianship, killer singing and real acting talent. It’s not easy to find all of that in one human body, needless to say.

“Stuart Burt Casting did a bottomless search to find the perfect person for each tricky-to-cast role. Every actor feels like a miracle when you find them. I can’t wait for audiences to experience this extraordinary company at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre.”

Elle was quick to see her friend in action, and was joined by another former co-star, James Crave, who played Aaron Sandford in Corrie between 2022 and 2023.

Sharing a picture of the three of them together outside the theatre on her Instagram Story, Elle posted five star emojis and said: “So proud of u!!!! @jackjamesryan.”

Back in March, Jack helped Elle celebrate 15 years on the cobbles. She has grown up in front of viewers’ eyes having first appeared on as Amy in 2010.
