BIG TROUBLE! Chickens cause chaos in Walford as EastEnders legend is kept awake all night

There’s a new kind of drama ruffling feathers in EastEnders this week, and it’s not just between the residents of Albert Square. Chickens are causing chaos, and one Walford legend is absolutely fed up.

Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) and Julie Haye (Karen Henthorn) make their long-awaited return to the Square, bringing with them not just emotional baggage, but also three very loud pet chickens. It doesn’t take long for things to get noisy and messy.

The new pets quickly put Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) patience to the test. He’s been looking after his old friend Nigel, but everything changed when Julie showed up and started taking over.

She’s full of energy and determination, jumping straight into decision-making and shaking up Nigel’s routine. Phil, unsurprisingly, isn’t too keen on someone else calling the shots in his own home.

To make matters worse, it’s not just the tension between Phil and Julie keeping him up at night; it’s the chickens. Their non-stop noise drives Phil and likely the rest of the Square to breaking point, and the atmosphere in the Mitchell house becomes more strained by the hour.

Julie and Phil continue to butt heads, and now there’s chickens in the mix!

Things come to a head when both Phil and Julie accompany Nigel to an important assessment. What should be a supportive moment quickly descends into awkwardness, as their constant bickering stresses Nigel out.

It’s clear their very different approaches to caring for him aren’t helping, and Nigel is the one caught in the middle.

Back at home, the tension explodes. Phil finally lets rip, and Julie, left reeling, demands answers. She insists that they have to work together and be on the same page when it comes to what’s best for Nigel.

But as the dust settles, it becomes painfully clear that they’re nowhere close to agreeing on what that actually means.

Julie wants to step back into her role as wife and carer, while Phil’s been by Nigel’s side through thick and thin, especially in recent times. Both clearly care, but their clashing styles and unresolved feelings are only making things harder.

With tempers flaring and chickens still clucking, it’s safe to say this living arrangement isn’t going smoothly. Whether Julie and Phil can find common ground, or whether Nigel will be forced to choose sides, remains to be seen.
