Honey Mitchell made a big decision in tonight’s episode of EastEnders after receiving some devastating news.
After her wedding to Billy, Honey took a job as a market inspector in Albert Square. She saw the chance to move up in her career when head market inspector Mr Lister said he was thinking of retiring soon.
She pops into the Minute Mart for a bottle of milk and explains she is heading for a meeting with him later that day, and is confident it will lead to her promotion.
He had previously hinted that Honey was next in line for his position, so when she went to meet her boss she had high hopes about her future.
He skates around the subject of retiring until Honey outright asks him about his intentions, to which he makes a U-turn and says he isn’t in a position to retire right now.

Mr Lister explains that he cannot retire because a family member named Keith had caused issues investing money, telling Honey to “never trust a man named Keith”.
Honey confides her worries to Billy, and the pair confront Mr Lister when he arrives at the Minute Mart.
They confront him over promising Honey the job, but he denies suggesting she would be his successor and instead says that a friend will take over the position.
She quits her job on the spot, and Vinny Panesar asks if she wants her job back at the Minute Mart instead, where she has plenty of fond memories.

She worked there for five years until 2021, and Vinny offered her a pay rise to start as soon as she could. And she agrees to start next week after having a bit of “me time”.
At the same time, Zack Hudson has some job news of his own – but not nearly as positive.
HMRC has shut down Walford East because of Ravi Gulati’s financial issues, meaning that he is about to be out of a job.
