Coronation Street fans will be preparing to bid farewell to another character next week.
Soap watchers will recall that it has been a tumultuous few months for Aadi Alahan, played by Adam Hussain. Earlier in the summer, Aadi accidentally spiked Lauren Bolton after she drunk his cup of LSD thinking it was her own drink at his midsummer party, leading to devastating results.
While in more recent scenes, Aadi staged an elaborate fake robbery with Brody Michaelis in order to claim back on insurance after buying too much stock, which left him in debt after taking out a £6000 loan to cover the mixup.
In true soap fashion, Aadi was exposed in recent episodes, leaving his father, Dev Alahan, disappointed and when he turned to drink to escape his problems, he let slip to Lauren that he was responsible for her LSD hell and the truth also left his on-off love interest Amy Barlow horrified.
In spoilers for next week, Aadi’s exit has appeared to have been confirmed after 19 years on the cobbles. In the upcoming scenes, Aadi tells Dev and Asha that the police have let him off with a caution.v v
He then proceeds to tell his family that he has spoken to his cousin Vikram and he’s going to start afresh in India, leaving sister Asha gutted.
It comes as Aadi actor Adam Hussain confirmed his exit from the cobbles in April after playing the role of Aadi since 2020. Taking to Instagram, he penned: “I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.
“Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!
“This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later! I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you @coronationstreet. @itv for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time! Adam.”
Meanwhile, his co-star Tanisha Gorey, who plays Aadi’s sister Asha, told Digital Spy about Adam’s exit: “Oh, my second brother! Obviously, I’ve worked with Adam for five years now, and he’s amazing. I love the bones of him.
“But he’s fabulous and he’s going to fly. He’ll do so many amazing things. I hope he doesn’t forget me! But he’s amazing – he’ll do great. I’m just sad that I’m not only missing a brother, it’s my [on-screen] twin, there’s two of us. I hope he goes and does what he needs to do.”
